Laborer/ Rock Handler

Position Summary

Receiving, handling and loading decorative rocks for delivery

 

Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities :

Typical daily operations include:

  • Receiving new loads of rocks from suppliers:

-  Unloading rocks for storage using forklifts & front loaders

  • Preparing rocks for storage

-  Prepare wood, plastic and wire containers for rock storage

-  Place rocks into storage containers manually or using equipment

  • Preparing rocks for shipment

-  Use a forklift or loader to load rocks onto delivery trucks

  • Maintain and improve yard for current and future sales needs

  • Work with owner to maintain equipment

 

Work Environment : The physical demands and work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

Physical Demands : In the performance of duties for this position, the employee is: regularly required to use hands to handle rocks, required to stand, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (occasionally up to 75 pounds). Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Qualifications: Education and/or Experience :

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred;

  • Physically strong - This position entails the handling of rocks, both physically and with the use of loading equipment.

  • Can take direction

  • Strong work ethic

 

Language Skills : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to listen and comprehend instructions accurately

 

Mathematical Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

 

Reasoning Skills : Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables
